Noah doesn't say much right now. After speaking with our pediatrician about my concerns, he connected me with a free early intervention service that comes to my home to work with Noah on his speech.
The other day, his speech specialist introduced him to play dough. It was the only thing that caught his attention for an extended period if time.
I have thought about play dough but then I always figured he would eat it, but with supervision it's a great exploratory plaything.
Well, I decided to make some home made play dough, just in case he did taste a bit. Here is the recipe I chose ( there is a ton online btw)
1 cup water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
Food coloring ( I used 4 drops for a light green)
1 cup flour
• combine water, oil, salt, cream of tartar, and food coloring in a saucepan until warm
•remove from heat and add the flour
• stir until the dough pulls away from the sides, then dump onto foil to cool for a few minutes.
•knead the dough until its smooth, like play dough and store in an air tight container. The cream of tartar should make it last about 6 months.
